A Legacy of Compassion
Established in 1969 by Lutheran churches, The Lutheran Home was created to address a crucial need in Southeast Missouri—providing comfort and care to area seniors. We opened our doors in 1972 as a 60-bed nursing home, and in our 50+ year history we have served more than 35,000 individuals in Southeast Missouri. Today, we are home to more than 400 seniors on a beautiful 40+ acre campus.
Our work is meaningful, necessary and makes a significant impact on our community. We have a 50+ year heritage as a 501(c)3, dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of seniors. We’d like to invite you into our world, and into our mission.
Our Growth and Services
From our humble beginnings, we have grown into a vibrant community, serving the needs of seniors with a comprehensive range of services:

- Assisted Living
- Skilled Care (including residential hospice)

- Transitional Care through Providence Pointe at Assisted Living

Our full continuum of care means that residents here may have needs that evolve, and we are prepared to support them throughout their life in a loving community.

Where People Matter Most
We are thankful for our 5-star ratings and recognition in the field. That said, we believe that the best accolades come from our residents and their families. Their appreciation makes humbly grateful for the trust they’ve placed in us, and in our ability to serve them well. Here are some examples of what they think about the team in our health center.
My care here was superb, the people were superb, every one of them. I was so impressed with how caring everyone who worked with me was.
76 nights…That’s how many nights she’s spent away from home. Some of those days in the hospital, but most of them in rehabilitation at Providence Place at The Lutheran Home. We will never be able to express how grateful we are for the care she received there. When she was tired and wanted to give up, they didn’t take no for answer. When they could’ve not pushed her to get stronger, they pushed anyways… knowing she was capable of more than she believed she was. Three days after being admitted to Providence Place, she suffered cardiac arrest. Nurses came running from every area of the Lutheran Home. CPR was administered quickly. The response time saved her life. No doubt, the hands of God brought her back to us. We didn’t think there was any way she was going to make it, and the doctors had very little hope. But by the grace of God, he’s given us more time with her. I have no doubt that her story, her testimony of strength and resilience will be just what someone else needs to hear to pull themselves through one day.
I have been extremely pleased with this facility and the people in it. Usually in every barrel of apples you find at least one rotten one. I haven’t found a single rotten one here. Kudos to whomever trains your people because you are all very kind and professional. You can tell anyone that you want that I love it here and have been very happy.
Your staff is just excellent. We have been impressed with everyone, housekeeping, laundry, nursing, social services, rehab. Everyone has been so kind, and worked so well with us. We would tell everyone to come to the Lutheran Home.
Out of all the facilities we have been in in the last 4 years, which have all been 5-star, this is the best!
